November 1st, 2018 Newsletter #3
It is hard to believe that we are heading into the month of November! As you are all aware, the weather is changing! Please ensure that your children are dressed appropriately with waterproof jackets and foot wear. On chilly days, please send warm coats, hats and mittens. We do send students outside as frequently as possible to get exercise and fresh air. Please send a change of clothes if possible. Thank you.
Popcorn Days . . .
The Popcorn Days for November are the 2nd, 9th, 16th and 30th Thank you Allison and Bailey for preparing this special treat for students and staff. We very much appreciate what you do for us!
Picture Retakes. . .
Picture retakes are this Friday, November 2nd.
Phone Calls and Messages. . .
The office is extremely busy during the latter part of the afternoon. We would appreciate it if students and parents could make prior arrangements for play dates or after school plans to decrease the amount of phone calls or messages for students. Thank you for your assistance with this matter.
School Supplies. . .
School supplies were ordered by the school last May. Parents are asked to contribute $35.00 towards this bulk order. Our records indicate that a number of families have not yet paid for school supplies for this school year. Please pay Mrs. Storey at the office if you have not already done so. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Remembrance Day Assembly. . .
We will be holding our Remembrance Day Assembly on Friday, November 9th starting at 11:00 a.m. Mrs. Kowal’s and Mrs. Cavin’s classes will be performing at the assembly. Parents are welcome to attend.
Parents As Literacy Supporters (PALS). . .
Our Kindergarten and Grade 1 classes (Ms. Vandergoot, Mrs. Marogna and Mrs. Pullin) will be providing educational activities for students and their parents to support what they are doing in the classroom. Our first PALS session is Wednesday, November 14th from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. This session will be ABCs and Learning. The remaining three dates are: January 23rd – Aboriginal focus, February 13th – A Valentines Math focus and May 8th – Outdoor Education focus and PALS Celebration.
School Spirit Day . . .
Our November School Spirit Day will be held on Tuesday, November 27th and it will be “Twin Day”! Students are welcome to dress like more than one other person. For example; a group of students from the same class can wear the same color shirts if they wish.
Parent Advisory Information. . .
The next Parent Advisory Council meeting is on Tuesday, November 20th. The meeting starts at 6:30 in the library. All parents of children who attend our school are automatically members of the parent advisory.
Special Lunch. . .
The next special lunch is: Pita Pit. Order forms will be due on November 22nd. The lunch will take place on Friday, November 30th.
Professional Development Day . . .
Our next Professional Development Day will be held on Friday, November 23rd . The school will be closed on that day.
Assembly . . .
We will be holding our next School Assembly on Friday, November 30th It will be held in the gymnasium starting at 11:00 a.m. Parents are welcome to attend.
